Principal’s Message: State Testing Window

It’s almost that time again: our annual state testing for grades 3-5 is coming up. Between April 23 and May 11, our third, fourth, and fifth graders will be taking ELA and Math standardized tests. Fifth graders will also be taking a field test of the new 5th grade science exam. Grades 3-5 families, please avoid scheduling out of town trips during that time period and avoid scheduling appointments in the morning during the testing window. Thank you. For additional details, please see the attached letter from our District Office.

Family Science Night

Family Science Night will be coming to Huff on Friday March 9, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the MUR. This year’s theme is Paper Science! Explore the cool properties and hidden science secrets of a simple sheet of paper. Build a tall tower, create a paper cup chariot, make a ‘surprise’ card for a special somebody, compare the surface areas of different shapes, and design a marble time tracker. You’ll never the see paper the same way again!

We need parent volunteers to help! Please check the Konstella sign up sheet for details.

The MVEF Winter Gala was a magical night, filled with food, fun, and philanthropy, as parents, teachers, District staff, city council and school board members, and corporate sponsors came together to support every child at every school in MVWSD. As we "Let the Music Play”, MVEF raised over $70,000, including a special fundraiser during dinner that raised $15,000 specifically to repair and purchase instruments for our 5th graders and middle schoolers. MVEF thanks its guests, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff who made this night successful.

You may have noticed a new checkmark on your school's MVEF sign as it hit the $600,000 marker. MVEF still needs to raise over $150,000 to meet its financial commitment to the district. Help continue to bring Community School of Music and Arts music and art lessons, hands-on science, Living Classroom, and middle school athletics and extended day electives to our children by donating to
