Principal’s Coffee: Monday, May 21

How can we, as a school community, prepare our students to demonstrate the attributes of the Strategic Plan’s “Profile of a Graduate”? Where are we going with Project Based Learning?

For the past few months, our teachers and School Site Council have been hard at work brainstorming and discussing ideas related to these big questions. Our efforts have resulted in version 1.0 of a “Roadmap to the Capstone,” a three-year plan that I will be sharing at the final Principal’s Coffee of the year: May 21, from 8:15 to 9:15 in the MUR. Join me and learn more about where we are headed!

  • Traffic Guidelines. Back of school: Drivers, do not drop off/pick up at intersections or block crosswalks. Front of school: remember to walk on the sidewalk side of Martens Ave. A Graham student biking to school was recently hit by a car. Luckily the student is ok -- let’s work together to minimize the chance of this happening.
  • UPDATE: After school supervision of students. The upper grade playground (behind the portables) is off limits while school is still in session for grades 1-5. Parents and caregivers, please actively monitor your children/students while on campus after school.
  • Non school-related items should remain at home. Toys and other items that could become a distraction must remain at home unless specifically permitted by a member of staff. Students should also not be bringing candy or gum to school. Things that don’t belong at school may be confiscated and returned to parents. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
  • UPDATE: All visitors must sign in. If you need to drop off lunch or other items for your child, please leave it in the office and we will get it to your children. For security and legal reasons, all visitors (volunteers, parents, community members) who come to campus during school hours must sign in at the school office. Any exceptions will only be granted at the discretion of the site administrator.

Coin Drive– Bring your spare change from May 7– 18

Huff is one of many MV and LA schools participating in collecting pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters (and even dollars!) to help fund the Magical Bridge Playground Mountain View at Rengstorff Park

  • Magical Bridge is a playground for children and adults of all abilities and disabilities, including those with physical and cognitive disabilities, autism, hearing and visual impairments, those with sensory challenges, and even our aging population.
  • The grade that collects the most funds will "win" a private playdate at Magical Bridge Playground Mountain View a week before it opens to the public!
  • If you are inspired, please consider making a contribution (in any amount) through our dedicated donation page online here:
  • When making a donation, kindly note what grade your child attends, so they can receive "credit" for this tax deductible donation. Donations of $300 or above will be recognized with a tile on the donor wall inside the new playground.
  • Buckets to collect coins will be in each classroom from May 7-18, 2018.
