Principal’s Message

A HUGE Huff Love thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who came to campus the past week to make the first day of school a success! Saturday’s PTA Beautification Day (and its unofficial continuation on Sunday) was especially helpful to get our classrooms and campus as ready as possible for Monday. Our community is truly amazing at pulling together to face our challenges!

Kudos also to everyone for being safe while commuting to and from school on Monday - traffic was smooth because we followed our Traffic Guidelines with great consistency. Let’s keep it up!

Visitor and Delivery Procedures

  • All visitors/volunteers must sign in at the Office and put on a visitor’s sticker before continuing to other parts of campus. Exception: caregivers waiting to pick up within 30 minutes of the end of the school day.
  • If dropping off items for students during the day, please bring them to the office and we will deliver the items or call the students to pick them up.
  • Visitors/volunteers who have signed in may use the adult restrooms in the southernmost wing of the school, near room 15. Adults may not use student restrooms unless escorting their child.

Picture Day is August 27

It’s coming up really quick this year! Dress to impress on Monday. You may have received an email from LifeTouch to order photos. If not, make sure you look for the paper forms to be sent home with your children this week.

Suggested School Supplies

Our suggested supply lists for the school year are online at Yubbler.com. All items on these lists are optional, and we appreciate your consideration. If you plan on contributing, please order now. Bring the supplies shipped home to your child’s classroom during the first week of school. Don’t forget to click on the STEM classes! At Huff, all donated supplies are pooled between the entire grade level team.

Back to School Night: September 5, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Mark your calendars for BTSN! Come and learn about your child’s classroom, teacher, and the important academic topics of the school year. More details to come in next week’s Huff n Stuff.

Absence and Tardy Policy

During the school year, should your child be absent for any reason, please call Ms. Marily at 650-526-3490 x3003. Excused absences are limited to illness, doctor/dentist appointments, and bereavement. All other absences will be considered unexcused. We strongly suggest that you travel out of town with children during school breaks only. Once a child accrues three unexcused absences or unexcused tardies over thirty minutes, families should expect a truancy letter. Once a student accrues five unexcused tardies, parents will be contacted by a district liaison for an attendance meeting.

Medication Forms

If your child requires medication to be kept at school, please pick up medication release forms from the office and return ASAP. (We cannot administer any medication without the form). Please note that all medication, even over the counter ones, need a medication form signed by your doctor.

Reminder! Bring in your Box Tops for the Summer Box Top Challenge Drawing!

During the first two weeks of school, bring in any Box Tops you’ve been collecting and fill out a raffle ticket at the office. Put the ticket in the box and a few lucky winners will win a prize! If you have already brought in Box Tops since Aug. 20, feel free to go back into the office and fill out a ticket.

So look around your house, ask family and friends, gather them all up and put them in the special box in the office.

How about a little back-to-school math? Huff has over 500 students this year. If each student brought in just TWO Box Tops every month, we’d have well over $1,000 to use to support our awesome school. We made just over $400 last year.

That’s just 2 little pieces of cardboard per student per month, only about 20 per year. Don’t think that just because you only have a couple they aren’t worth anything. It all adds up!! Just drop them in the office and I will magically turn them into money for Huff! For any Box Tops related questions please contact out Huff coordinator Gina Rybolt at geeners@gmail.com. Thanks for all your help Huff Hawks! We’ve already had a few people bring some in this week. Keep clipping!!
