ThoughtExchange opens on Feb. 28: New school name and principal attributes

In 2015, the Mountain View Whisman School District Board of Trustees voted to open a neighborhood school next to the former Slater Elementary. The District soon will begin construction on a new school on N. Whisman Rd. This new school will open in August 2019 for grades kindergarten through 5.

As we prepare to open this new school, we want to hear your opinions about the important attributes and contributions of the potential person/namesake for this new school, as well as the traits of its new principal.

Look for a link in your email on Feb. 28 to join the ThoughtExchange conversation or visit this link http://mvwsd.thoughtexchange.com/invitation/ to join in before March 16.

The MVLA Parent Education Speaker Series presents: "Boys Adrift: Raising Authentic Boys Engaged in School and Life" with Dr. Leonard Sax.

Tuesday, March 6, 7:00 pm at Los Altos High School Eagle Theater

Drawing upon 26 years of clinical experience and scientific research, Dr. Sax will explore how social, cultural, and biological factors have created an environment that impedes the healthy development of many boys today. Dr. Sax will share concrete strategies to help us as parents connect more deeply with our sons and guide our boys to stay engaged - and grow into productive, self-reliant, authentic young men.

Order your Huff Yearbook today!

This is a wonderful keepsake for your child's school year memories. Please see below for details!

How do I order? The yearbook can be ordered by clicking the "order a yearbook" button at: https://yearbooks.lifetouch.com. You will be asked for the school code which is 13351218. If you prefer to purchase the yearbook with cash or check, please contact Suzanne Drumwright at yearbook@huffpta.org to make arrangements.

How much does it cost? The cost is $18 and an additional $0.75 if you wish to have it personalized.

What about those who cannot afford to buy a yearbook? When ordering, you will have the option to donate to a school fund which will be used to purchase yearbooks for students who need financial aid. If you feel that you qualify for financial aid, please contact Marily, Teresa, or Susie in the main office.

Is a yearbook included with my PTA donation? If you made a $200 contribution to the PTA this school year, you will receive a personalized yearbook in the child's name you input during membership.

For families expecting a pre-ordered yearbook due to qualifying PTA donations, Membership sent an email message a few weeks ago asking for confirmation of spelling of student names. If we do not receive a reply by Friday, Feb. 9, we will assume the spelling is correct. Please check your Spam folder if you did not see a message and email membership@huffpta.org with questions.

Can I still make a PTA donation that includes a yearbook? It is not too late to join the PTA! If you would like to make a $200 contribution to support the programs and events made possible by the Huff PTA, a personalized yearbook will be provided at no additional charge.

How can I help? Yearbook volunteers are creating the book now! If you would like to help or have photos to submit, we would love to hear from you! Please contact Suzanne Drumwright at yearbook@huffpta.org for more details.
